Outstanding monumental oil on canvas painting of Mount Chocorua in New Hampshire's White Mountain range shows the mountain in the distance with Lake Chocorua and White Mountain National Forest in the foreground. William Frederick Paskell's (British 1865-1951) signature is in bottom right corner. Paskell was part of the White Mountain School of Painters in the late 19th century. After moving to America, he started out in Boston where his early work was hanging in the annual Boston Art Club exhibitions in the late 1880s. His journal, sketchbooks, and sketches are now in the collections of the Smithsonian. Verso of painting has frame label from E. Shoepflin and Co., Inc., 116 Portland St., Boston. Sight size is 39"H x 49"W, frame size is 46.5"H x 56.25"W. There is minor loss of paint in two spots at bottom on left side of painting.
